Sex Addiction-Compulsivity Treatment Intensive

Two-Week Intensive Program for Sex Addiction and Compulsivity Treatment
(February 13 – 26, 2012)

ISH offers a comprehensive, structured 14-day sex addiction treatment curriculum designed to help men identify problematic sexual and relational patterns, provide specific tools to contain and stop harmful behavior, and to understand the underlying factors that contribute to sex addiction and compulsivity. Our program provides standard psychological testing, education on sex addiction and human sexuality, and focused education on the sex addiction-induced trauma model so that our clients are more prepared for the actual demands of relational healing. We can help you

We understand that coming to intensive treatment for sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior is not easy. We are familiar with the reluctance, fear and shame involved in confronting these types of concerns. Our program provides a safe and professional therapeutic environment. We attempt to help clients find the internal motivation to work on these issues and to provide the tools they need to move towards sexual health, integrity and intimacy.

What makes the ISH Intensive unique?

  1. Our 12-day program begins with standard psychological testing in addition to the standard comprehensive sex addiction assessment to establish a grounded understanding of personality features, interpersonal tendencies and objective clinical diagnostic information.  We provide client’s with a testing feedback session and integrate the results into the treatment process.  Clients and referring professionals can request a testing report.
  2. ISH utilizes a contemporary sexual health model and treatment approach, based on formal education in clinical sexology and an appreciation for the complexities of human sexuality. Our unique sexual health treatment approach addresses the behavioral, psychological, sexual and relational complexities of compulsive sexual behavior. The advent of the Internet and the cultural exposure to new and wide-ranging forms of sexual content, arousal and social expression has resulted in a growing necessity for the treatment of sex addiction requiring specialization in human sexuality – not just traditional sex addiction model training.  Our program includes specialization in transgender dynamics, sexual identity development, arousal templates, BDSM and fetish sexuality, sexual offending dynamics, pedophilia, paraphilic sexuality, sexual dysfunctions, cyber-sexuality and cyber-relationships.
  3. Our Intensive utilizes the Sex Addiction-Induced Trauma Model, which challenges the traditional sex addiction models that are widely based on a paradigm of “addict and co-addict”. We do not endorse the “co-addiction” model to assess or treat partners impacted by sex addiction.  ISH has developed a contemporary model of treatment that recognizes, validates, and treats the traumatic symptoms experienced by partners of sex addicts.  Our intensive educates addicts on how they have impacted their partners or spouses in order to find increased, clarity, empathy and recovery.  Understanding sex addiction-induced trauma helps set up our clients for relational health as well as their own recovery process.
  4. We offer extended personalized intensive treatment options on an individual basis as an option for those clients who may require or opt for more in-depth and focused individualized treatment after the 15-day intensive. Our team can recommend what options would make the most sense for extended care based on your individual needs. This can include help and support for couples.

Where do I stay?

Participants of intensive treatment programs at ISH have the option to stay in a local hotel or in a safer, sober living house. Participants can also choose to stay with a friend or family, but need to be free from distraction and be able to remain focused on the program, including being able to do homework in the evenings. There are many lodging options, including three hotels less than a 1-minute walk from the Beverly Hills treatment facility. You will be asked to check-in every night with a treatment specialist.

What about my partner or spouse?

The Institute offers the Partner and Spouse Support and Education Intensive, a six-day program for the spouses and partners impacted by sex addiction and compulsive sexual behaviors. We will include your spouse as indicated in terms of providing them with knowledge of your treatment process and how they may integrate into the treatment process as part of your aftercare plan.
