The SAI-Trauma Model Workshop: An Educational Workshop to Help Sex Addicts Understand Sex Addiction-Induced Trauma Among Partners and Spouses
(February 11, 2012)
The focus of this one-day workshop is to educate and expose sex addicts to the sex-addiction-induced trauma model and specifically the traumatic impact sex addiction often has on the partner or spouse. The workshop reviews the 12 dimensions of trauma and the specific symptoms of C-PTSD associated with a partner’s experience. The workshop articulates how recognizing sex addiction-induced trauma significantly changes the way the addict, the partner and the couple is conceptualized and treated. The workshop aims to provide a safe, non-shaming environment to help sex addicts understand SAI-Trauma in order to advance both their own individual recovery and the healing of their relationship or marriage.
Heterosexual-Identified Men Sexually Aroused by Male Sexuality or Transgender Dynamics: A Psycho-Education and Support Workshop for Men
(March 10 – 11, 2012)
The phenomenon of heterosexual men being aroused by transgender dynamics or male sexuality is often perplexing and uncomfortable, for both professionals and patients alike. This workshop aims to provide a very safe, non-judgmental and also clinically informed workshop that both educates and provides space for personal processing in a group context. The workshop is designed specifically for heterosexual-identified men who are sexually aroused by gender-variance, transgender dynamics and/or male-male sexuality. Based on clinical experience and qualitative research, theoretical understandings for this psychosexual arousal and expressed sexual behavior will be reviewed. The workshop will not only help participants gain a much more educational understanding of these arousal dynamics but also provides the rare experience of permission to explore and process these issues with others in a group context.
