This once per month seminar addresses the key components that sex addicts need in order to facilitate healing their relationships; accountability, empathy, honesty and humility. We address the many challenges that recovering couples experience in the service of moving forward.
As a key component of The Partner and Spouse Program and Sex Addiction-
Compulsivity Program, The Trauma Model Workshop offers participants a unique
opportunity to identify, share and process the impact of sex addiction on the lives of
partners/spouses of sex addicts, which serves as a therapeutic and educational foundation
for relational healing. However, while awareness is a crucial step in healing, the addict
then needs to reinforce a stance of honesty, empathy, accountability and humility in
order to foster healing in the relationship. While the partner is responsible for resolving
her trauma, the addict’s empathic stance and true understanding is critical in healing the
relationship.
This once per month empathy skills group series is a follow-up to The Trauma Model
Workshop and is designed for men in advanced stages of recovery from sex addiction
and compulsive sexual behavior. Utilizing the Sex Addiction-Induced Trauma Model
as a foundation for the program, each session will focus on a specific type of wounding
or trauma often experienced by partners and spouses of sex addicts and will include
psycho-education, identifying personal wounding in the addicts background and then
processing similar wounding experienced by their partner or spouse. Sessions may
also include specific topics related to relational healing and the nuanced complexities
of struggles in the process of couples recovery from sex addiction. The purpose
of this program is to assist men in sexual recovery develop increased empathy and
